Bulb Lasagne workshop Wednesday 10th September 2025 1pm-2pm @ Bramble & Blooms
Bulb Lasagne: A Layered Delight for Spring 2026
Creating a bulb lasagne is a delightful way to ensure a cascading display of colour and joy throughout the spring months. Here's how to plant your layers of crocus, daffodils, and tulips for a beautiful, blooming spectacle.
What we will provide during the workshop:
Bulbs: Crocus, daffodils, and tulips
Soil: Well-draining compost
A sturdy pot
Steps to Create Your Bulb Lasagne:
Select Your Planting Site: Choose a location with good drainage in your pot and plenty of sunlight
Prepare the Base Layer:
Start with the bottom layer of crocus bulbs. These petite blooms will be the first to emerge, providing a cheerful welcome as spring arrives.
Dig a shallow hole about 10cm deep and place the bulbs pointy end up, spacing them about 5-10cm apart. Cover them gently with soil.
Create the Daffodil Layer:
Next, add a layer of daffodils above your crocus. These sturdy flowers will bloom next, creating a vibrant display.
Dig another hole about 15cm deep and place the daffodil bulbs pointy end up, spacing them similarly as before. Cover with soil, ensuring they sit snugly above the crocus.
Top with Tulips:
Finally, add your tulip bulbs as the uppermost layer. These beauties will bloom last, prolonging your enjoyment.
Dig a hole around 15cm deep for the tulips, spacing them about 10cm apart. Place them pointy end up and cover with soil.
Finishing Touches:
Water the area well to settle the soil. A light mulch can also help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
Maintenance:
Simply water your bulb lasagne as needed, ensuring the top layer does not dry out completely. As the spring months roll in, keep an eye on the layers breaching the surface – it’s a magical sight!
By planting your bulbs in layers, you’ll create a breathtaking show of colour that will have you smiling from early spring to late spring.
Includes a cake and drink.
